On our hunt to find planet-friendly packaging we were super excited to discover a kiwi company leading the way. Convex are a family owned, award-winning packaging business, based in Hamilton. They’ve developed innovative high barrier home compostable packaging solutions to keep our environment clean and green - the perfect fit for Blended.
BLENDED HOME COMPOSTABLE BAGS
Our Blended 90g freeze dried coffee bags are made from three compostable films that are laminated together to lock in freshness, taste and flavour. The three films are derived from sustainably-produced wood pulp and GM-free corn sources, and each film has been certified to the European and American compostability standards (EN13432 and ASTM6400).
COMPOSTING
Blended 90g Freeze Dried bags (including the zipper) can be disposed of in a home or industrial composting environment containing heat, water, oxygen, soil and micro-organisms.
Breakdown times will vary due to factors such as the type of compost environment, heat levels and climate. The greater the surface area of the bag exposed, the faster it will break down, so to speed things up cut open the bag and flatten it out fully or cut it into pieces, the smaller the better.
DON’T HAVE A COMPOST?
Our mission is to keep packaging out of landfill, so for those of you who don’t have a compost or worm farm, you can collect your empty Blended bags and send them to Convex, 5 Latham Court, PO Box 5460, Hamilton, NZ to be composted.
